Work Order Creation & Capacity Alert System
A done-for-you manufacturing automation built for the Production Scheduler, connecting Slack and Google Sheets so the work below happens on its own.
What this automation does, step by step
As sales orders are confirmed, this automation generates the corresponding work orders in the production schedule, checks available machine and labor capacity for each required operation, and flags any work order that cannot be completed by the promised ship date given current capacity.
The scheduler sees conflicts before they become missed deliveries, and production supervisors receive a pre-shift briefing each morning with today's work orders sorted by priority, starting the day aligned rather than discovering the fire at noon.
- ERP or MES (e.g., NetSuite Manufacturing, Epicor, or Katana)
- Zapier or Make.com
- Google Sheets (capacity planning model)
- Slack (daily pre-shift briefing)
- Email (work order confirmations to supervisors)
Using different software? We build around what you already have, so you never have to switch tools to automate.
The manual way vs. the automated way
Without automation
Done by hand, this depends entirely on a production scheduler remembering to check in, update records, and follow up, with no safety net if something slips. It's the kind of work that quietly eats hours every week.
With this automation
- Low-stock and reorder alerts before you run out
- Vendor and subcontractor confirmations that chase themselves
- Preventive maintenance scheduled by usage or date
- Work orders and project milestones that update stakeholders
