What this automation does, step by step
Employees who forget a password no longer have to open a ticket and wait for a technician; they answer two identity verification prompts through Okta's self-service portal (a code sent by Twilio SMS and a security question set at onboarding) and reset the password themselves in under a minute.
Every reset is logged automatically to a Google Sheets audit trail with a timestamp and the employee's name, and any account that triggers three failed reset attempts in an hour gets flagged and locked, with an instant Slack alert sent to the help desk coordinator to check for a credential-stuffing attempt.
Tickets that previously ate up close to a quarter of the help desk's daily ticket volume disappear from the queue entirely, freeing the team to work on problems that actually need a human.
