What this automation does, step by step
When a provider refers a patient out to an external specialist, this automation automatically sends the referral packet, including relevant history and the reason for referral, directly to the specialist's office and logs the referral with a confirmation deadline.
The system checks daily for confirmation that the specialist's office has scheduled the patient, and if no confirmation comes back within the set window, an alert routes to the referral coordinator to call and close the loop manually.
Patients receive an automatic status text once the specialist visit is confirmed, so they know the referral is actually moving instead of wondering if it fell through a crack.
Referrals that would otherwise silently stall between two separate offices get caught and resolved instead of forgotten entirely.
